Did you guess right?

So did you guess which project was mine? Those of you that know me definitely guessed right. I made the dino backpack. I'm excited to give it to Munchkin #2 on his birthday next month. I'm going to embroider his name on the front.

I had this dinosaur fabric and the stripped fabric for a while now. I was going to make curtains to match a quilt that my sister-in-law made Munchkin #2. But I just haven't gotten around to it. And the little guy needs a new backpack for church so I thought I'd whip this up for him. It's sort of a backpack/diaper bag since we are still working on the potty training thing. Anyway, I quilted the whole thing to add some sturdiness. I love how it came out. AND guess what....after this contest is over I'm going to share the tutorial (including a pattern) with you all!! So stay tuned

Well I'm moving on to week #3. This weeks theme is Puddle Jumping. I'm excited to get some great projects done for this week.

Gorgeous...

I have to say, I did love Kate's wedding dress. I also loved seeing my daughter's face as she watched a real prince and princess get married. She is such a girl and loved every moment of it. Even convinced her daddy to watch it with her. :)

So now I am obsessed with the flower girl dresses. They are gorgeous. I want to try to make one for my daughter that is similar but not in white.

So pretty!

Woo Hoo...On to week 2

Well the results are in...check it out. I made a picnic blanket for this summer. I'm so excited to use it. I've been wanting one but did not want to pay for one. :) I used 2.5 yards of fabric, 2.5 yards of batting and then I bought some vinyl to make it water proof. Basically you just sandwich it all together and you get this wonderful picnic blanket. It's huge so we have plenty of room for all of us! I used this tutorial to get a rough idea of what I wanted to do.

I'm excited about week 2. I have several ideas in my head. Just hoping I have the time to get them all completed. Our theme this week is Extra Ordinary. Should be fun!

I got the kids Easter outfits completed...and with 15 minutes to spare Saturday night. Not bad for a procrastinator. Ha ha!

Here is Munchkin #2's outfit. He got to wear it for about 15 minutes at church on Sunday before he proceeded to pee and poop in it. Got to love potty training! I can't remember which pattern I used (I'll have to look later) but I changed the patter a little. Since the fabric I used was so light I decided to line the entire outfit. I LOVE how it turned out.

You already saw Munchkin #1's completed dress. She loved it and told me she looked like a princess. Makes my heart happy to hear her so happy with it. Makes getting almost no sleep totally worth it. :)

Busy busy...

This quarter at school has started off with a bang! We had two exams already this week...so needless to say, I've been a busy mama. On top of school, I have a sick little girl, I'm finishing Easter outfits and working on my first entry for the Extreme Makeover: Fabric Edition.

Here's a sneak peak at my daughter's Easter outfit. It's not quite finished but almost. It's based on a pattern but I made my own changes too. I'll share some of those after Easter. I'm making my son an outfit too but it's not ready for pictures yet.

Bree announced the first theme for the Extreme Makeover: Fabric Edition...Wildflowers and Whimsy! Fun fun...I'm working on a great project and hopefully you will all vote for me when the projects are posted on Friday. Plus April will have a giveaway posted for all of you so check out her blog as well. Doesn't get better than that!

Sparkly Belt

Here's the belt I made for my Munchkin #1. I had to kind of bribe her into wearing jeans. :) She loves to wear dresses, which is fine, but I want her to wear more than just dresses. So I made her a sparkly belt to dress up the jeans and she was beyond excited!!

Here's a fun link...
How cool are these jersey knit bracelets over at V and Co.

Lots of fun belts

I have had so much fun making belts for others, my own munchkins, and my Etsy shop. I made this one for Munchkin #2...he loves it.

Tonight I made a bright pink sparkly one for munchkin #1. I'll take pictures in the morning. I can't wait for her to see it. She is going to be so excited. It takes me bribing her with a new sparkly belt to get her to wear jeans. She loves dresses :)

I'm working on their Easter outfits. I can't wait for them to be done. They will match and it will be so adorable :)

How about some fun links to get your creative juices flowing...

These awesome fleece flower pillows are too cute! I just have to make some for Munchkin #1's new bed.

These I am definitely making for my craft room. Aren't they great!

And oh my goodness....this Creamy Carmel Sauce looks sinfully good!!

Giveaway!

Check out this great jewelry giveaway!! Beautiful stuff!

Monday, February 28, 2011

Despite nursing school and two very busy little ones, I have decided to start selling again at Munchkinmakings. This is a good thing though...you see I have a dear sweet best friend that lives way far away. My #1 munchkin and I were planning on going out to visit her and her family in March but $ is tight so we are having to put it off for a couple months. So I decided to earn my own money so I am guaranteed to get to go see her soon.

Hopefully, keeping my store up and running will also equal lots of blogging about the fun stuff I make or see on the internet. :)

Ok, I just have to share this link. I have two sweet munchkins to keep occupied so I am always looking for fun stuff to do with them. My #1 munchkin loves to color, paint, craft while munchkin #2 not so much :) but we still try with him. So I was beyond excited to see this blog post for homemade art supplies as we are always running out of supplies and making our own sounds like so much more fun. So check it out over at The Homeschool Classroom.

Also here is one of the things I listed in my shop today

Valentine's Day

Ok, Ladies...this is what I've chosen for the girl belt. I can make two of either the boy or the girl belt. So Jennifer and Joni let me know if you want the girl or the boy belt and I will get them to you. :)

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day! How was yours?

I finished up my dress for my biggest munchkin. She was thrilled. I also made her a sweet headband to match.
Then we had lunch which consisted of heart shaped grilled cheese....yummy!!

For dinner we had homemade heart shaped ravioli. I've never made homemade pasta before but it turned out really cute and yummy.
Doesn't it look pretty?

Easy Peasy Belt

Ok, this belt is super easy!! First you need to start with 2 D-rings and some belting. I got this cute belting from Joann's. They also have princess belting and many others. :)

You will want to measure your munchkins waist then and about 5 inches and cut the belting to that length. For example I cut mine to 24 inches for my skinny 2 1/2 year old. Now place both D-rings through one end of your belting with the front side facing down.

Next fold over and tuck in the raw edge. I folded the raw edge over about 1/4 in and then again about an inch. Now sew across your fold making sure you are sewing through the folded raw edge as well. I used the "triple stitch" stitch on my sewing machine just to make sure it wasn't going anywhere :)
This is what it should look like when you are done.
Next you want to fold over the other end. I folded the raw edge over once 1/4 in and then folded it again a 1/4 in.

Finally sew that end. I sewed once about 1/8 inch from the end and again another 1/8 inch using the "triple stitch" again.

Here is your finished belt! Now wasn't that super easy? :)

Here it is on a pair of pants.

You can also tuck it in so the character can be seen all the way around like I did when my little guy was wearing it.

Now for the giveaway. I have two belts...one lavender (for a girl) and one navy blue with frogs (for a boy) on it. I will post pictures tomorrow. You are probably wondering how you can win one of these belts. All you have to do is post a comment on this post letting me know if you want the boy or girl belt. If you would like second entry then just tell your friends about this giveaway and then come back and comment with how you told your friends (facebook, blog, xanga, etc.) I will pick 2 winners on Saturday, Feb. 12th. Make sure you leave your email address so I can let you know if you win :)

Here are the belts...I think I'm going to make a princess belt instead of the lavender for a girl but haven't gotten that belting yet. :)

Belts...

Do any of you have munchkins with little waists? I do...two of them to be exact. I know they make jeans now with adjustable waistbands but I have lots of garage sale pants/skirts that don't have these adjustable waists. So I need belts for my two sweet munchkins. Problem is you can't find belts for 2 year old's. So I'm going to make them some and I'm posting the tutorial for all of you in case you find yourself in the same predicament. :)

Ideas for Valentine's Day

It has been a little over a year since I last posted. A lot has happened in the past year or so which is why I have not kept this up. 2011 is a new year so lets see how long I can stay with it.

We're gearing up for Valentine's Day in our house. My oldest munchkin is very excited about the holiday and to give Valentine's to everyone she knows so I've been scouring the internet for fun things to do with her and the little munchkin. I thought I'd share some of what I've found with you all.

Cupid Candy Corn Cookie Bar
This looks so yummy...But I haven't seen the candy corn so I may make ours with m&m's.

Mother Goose Popcorn
The kids love popcorn so I know this will be a winner with both of them!

Homemade Conversation Hearts
I think this sounds like so much fun. I'm not sure if the kids will get into it or not but we'll see

Felt Photo Locket
This is so adorable. I don't know if my biggest munchkin will ever take hers off. :)

Twisted Felt Necklace and Bracelet
I thought this was something fun that the kids could do. The littlest munchkin could probably care less but I know my biggest munchkin will love it!

Do you have any fun plans for your munchkins for Valentines day?
